HISTORY on the Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria

Tradition sets the origin of a Casauria Castiglione, towards the year 1000, when I Adam, abbot of Casauria, built the Castle.
The Abbey was built by Ludwig II, grandson of Charlemagne in 871 as a result of a vow made during his captivity in the duchy of Benevento. Initially dedicated to the Blessed Trinity, was headed to San Clemente when, in 872, it passed his remains. It was subject, in later centuries, a number of looting: the Saracens in 920 and, in 1078, was destroyed by the Norman Malmozzetto. The Benedictine abbot Grimoaldo undertaken the reconstruction of the church was solemnly consecrated in 1105. The reconstruction work was completed only in the second half of the twelfth century under the command of the conduction Leone. In 1348 suffered serious damage as a result of the earthquake. It lost wonderful architectural details. During the restoration of the church who became one hundred years later, many parts were not dropping deleted or obscured by new buildings.

THE MOUNTAIN

A short distance from the Villa dei Glicini, in the province of Chieti, for lovers of mountains, extending the "Monti della Majella", consisting of a very massive limestone, the top of which are the main peaks of the group (Monte Amaro, 2793 m; Monte Acquaviva, 2737 m; Focalone Monte, 2676 m, Monte Rotondo, 2656 m; Macellaro Monte, 2646 m; Pesco Falcone, 2546 m; Murelle of Cima, 2598 m) and vast plateaus to high market shares (up 2500 m). Its sides are furrowed by steep valleys, carved by rivers such as the Orfento, the Forum and others. Around it, groups of Monte Morrone, Monte dei Monti and Porrara Pizzi. The first two are separated by massive valleys and dell'Orta dell'Aventino while zone Pizzi dei Monti, however, is linked to the so-called plateaus Majella More of Abruzzo, on the limestone plains of 1250 m altitude. There are also snow (Neva Majella).

THE SEA

Pescara is the administrative and commercial hub in the region, the most populous cities of Abruzzo and 'an' excellent and popular seaside resort, thanks to the splendid beach that is matched, for about ten kilometers to the city center and the nearby pine forests .
